Welcome to BabbleNest (the "App"), developed by the BabbleNest Development Team ("we," "us," or "our"). We take children's privacy seriously and are committed to protecting the information security of every child and parent. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Personal Information We Do NOT Collect

We promise that we do not actively collect or request any personally identifiable information (PII) from children, including but not limited to:

  • Home addresses or location data
  • Photos, videos, or audio (containing a child's likeness or voice)
  • School or class information
  • Social media accounts
  • Contact information

2. Non-Personal Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide basic app functionality, we may collect the following limited non-personal information:

1. Purchase Verification:

  • What we collect: When you subscribe to a paid service, the transaction is processed by Apple's App Store payment system. We only receive an anonymous transaction receipt from Apple to verify the purchase, which does not contain any of your payment account information.
  • Purpose: To verify your membership and unlock the corresponding paid features (game mode, all categories unlocked).

2. Local Learning Data:

  • What we collect: Learning progress, number of words completed, preference settings, etc.
  • Storage: This data is stored only locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
  • Purpose: To provide a personalized learning experience and track your progress.

3. Data Sharing with Third-Party Services

We promise that we do not share any personally identifiable information with any third party. We only share anonymous, non-personal information with carefully selected third-party service providers that comply with children's privacy protection standards, and only when necessary to provide the functions described above.

Third-party services we currently use:

  • Apple StoreKit (provided by Apple)
    • Purpose: To process in-app purchases and subscription verification.
    • Data shared: Anonymous purchase receipts and subscription status.

  • Feishu Forms (for feedback collection)
    • Purpose: To collect user feedback and suggestions (completely voluntary).
    • Data shared: Only the feedback content when a user voluntarily submits feedback.
    • Note: We do not encourage or collect feedback from children.

Our explicit promise: We do not use any advertising networks, user tracking tools, or other data brokerage services.

4. Parental Rights

As a guardian, you have the right to understand and manage your child's information in this App. If you wish to view, correct, or request deletion of the anonymous data we collect that is associated with your account, please contact us using the information below. We will respond promptly after verifying your guardian identity.

Your rights include:

  • Understanding what types of information we collect
  • Requesting deletion of any related data
  • Withdrawing consent for using the App
  • Controlling your child's app usage time and content

5. Data Security

We employ industry-standard security technologies and measures to protect the information we collect, preventing unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Our security measures include:

  • Local-first storage: Learning progress and preference settings are stored directly on your device, reducing data transmission risks
  • Data minimization: We only collect the anonymous information necessary for app functionality
  • Third-party service security: We use security-certified services like Apple StoreKit to process subscriptions
  • No sensitive data collection: We do not collect any personally identifiable information

However, please understand that no network transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We will continue to monitor and improve the app's security.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When significant changes occur, we will notify you by updating the app version and providing the new version of the policy in the settings page. We recommend that you review this policy periodically to stay informed of the latest privacy practices.

7. Special Notes

About BabbleNest's special design:

  • Offline-first: The app's core features (learning cards, audio playback, progress tracking) can all be used offline
  • Local storage: Learning data is primarily stored locally on your device to protect privacy
  • Ad-free design: The app is completely ad-free with no third-party tracking, providing a clean learning environment for children
  • Parental controls: We recommend parents use iOS Screen Time and parental control features to manage their child's usage
